Wilson's withdrawal gives Tigers extra boost

With Jason Gillespie on international duties and spinner Brad Young outed for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, the South Australian bowling stocks took another blow as paceman Paul Wilson was ruled out of today's clash against the Tasmanian Tigers with an ankle complaint.

The match is a crucial game for both sides with the South Australians yet to score any points in the Pura Milk Cup and the Tigers sitting delicately poised in fourth position on the table after having gained 4 points through first innings wins.

Wilson's injury gives Queensland fast bowler Mick Miller a chance to make his debut for the Redbacks after playing two Sheffield Shield games for the Bulls two seasons ago.

Wilson has had a cortisone injection to reduce swelling in his left ankle, where bones have been rubbing together. The former international has taken 10 wickets in the first two matches this season and his loss will be a blow for the Redbacks.

The Tigers are also suffering depletion in the bowling ranks with pacemen Gerard Denton and Andrew Downton both ruled out for today's game with a back injury and a side strain respectively. However Damien Wright returns from a thigh injury which will add some fire to the Tigers' bowling line-up.

The Redbacks' batsmen will be focussing on securing first innings points after a collapse for 96 a week ago against Victoria.
