Only twenty minutes play was possible on the second day of the County Championship match between Glamorgan and Gloucestershire at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Spells of rain throughout the morning prevented play from starting until 2.30 p.m., and then after just 5.1 overs had been bowled, another downpour forced the players from the field, and with further heavy showers occuring throughout the afternoon, play was abandoned for the day at 5 p.m.
During the brief spell of play, Gloucestershire added 15 runs for the loss of one wicket, as David Harrison trapped Jonty Rhodes leg before for 47 in the third over of the day. In fact, the young seamer might have dismissed the former South African international with the first ball of the day, as Rhodes top edged an attempted pull, and the ball lobbed over the head of the slip fielders for two runs.
Harrison left the field with career-best figures of 15-1-38-3, and the 21 year old will be eager to add further to his tally when play resumes tomorrow with Gloucestershire 93 runs ahead and 6 wickets in hand.
