'It's been a tough day for us' says Shine at Edgbaston

Warwickshire had the better of the second day at Edgbaston where they ended 249 runs ahead of Somerset with five of their wickets still to fall.

Resuming at 121 for 3 this morning, the Cidermen lost their remaining 7 wickets for the addition of 87 runs, toleave them trailing their midland opposition by 22 runs.

Batting for a second time Warwickshire had slipped to 60 for 3 before Dominic Ostler and Jamie Troughton came to the rescue by adding 123 for the fourth wicket, before Troughton was out for 52.

By the close of play Warwickshire had reached 236 for 5 off 80 overs , with Ostler being not out 110, and Steffan Jones taking three of the wickets to fall.

After the close of play Kevin Shine told me: "It's not been a great day for us today result wise, but everybody has made a real effort and worked very hard. It's been a tough day for us and we haven't enjoyed the best of luck. It's been difficult for us without our big gun Richard Johnson. It's not a good wicket and he would have made a big difference."

He continued: "All of our bowlers have worked very very hard to cover the loss of `Johnno', and it's been a brilliant effort from Steffan who had to bowl a lot of overs.

He concluded: "In the morning we will be looking to get them out cheaply, but it will be very hard work batting last on that wicket."
