Centurion: Alan Donald has announced that he will be taking a
break from the pressures of international cricket after the
triangular one-day tournament involving England and Zimbabwe. He
spoke to the press as rain delayed the start of the second day of
the England Test. He has asked not to be considered for the tour
of India or the series against Australia, but hopes to return in
the 2000/01 season. He will continue to play first-class cricket
and hopes to give Warwickshire 100% in the 2000 English season,
after a disappointing performance last year.
Donald withdrew from the final Test at the last moment through
injury and has taken 290 wickets in Tests, 10 short of the magic
300 mark.
