A medium-pace offpsinner and middle-order batsman, Jumbo Jowett won four Blues for Oxford between 1952 and 1955 and also represented Dorset between 1952 and 1960. His best bowling was 7 for 132 against Surrey at Guildford in 1954 and a few days later hit a career-best 57 against Warwickshire at Edgbaston. He had to odd distinction of never appearing on a winning side in any of his first-class matches.
