Glamorgan could soon be making another signing for the 1997 season,
according to reports in local newspapers in South Wales. It has been known
that the club have been looking to further strengthen their bowling, and the
names of Somerset's Andy Caddick and former Sussex seamer Ed Giddins had
been linked by some journalists to the Welsh county. These proved unfounded
as Caddick signed a new contract with Somerset, and earlier this week
Giddins moved to Warwickshire. But now there are reports that the club has
made an approach to Derbyshire's Frank Griffith - watch this page to see if
further developments happen!!
It has been a week of mixed fortunes for Glamorgan's two England spinners.
Today, left arm spinner Dean Cosker departed by plane from Heathrow with the
England Under-19 team for their tour of Pakistan, whilst earlier in the
week, England off-spinner Robert Croft had his cricket kit stolen from the
Glamorgan Indoor School at Neath whilst attending winter nets. Hopefully,
Robert should have replacement kit by the time he leaves at the weekend for
Zimbabwe and New Zealand, but should anyone be offered any of Robert's
stolen kit, please contact the Club on 01222 343478.
