Robert Croft and Mark Ilott have been given a two match ban from Nat West
Trophy games,
suspended for two years, by the Disciplinary Panel of the England and Wales
Cricket Board following their on-pitch altercation during the Nat West
semi-final between Glamorgan and Essex at Chelmsford. This ban is in
addition to their £1000 fine levied by both counties immediately after the
game.
Matthew Maynard has been appointed captain and coach of Otago for the
1997/98 domestic
season in New Zealand. It is hoped that a link will be provided, as last
winter, from these pages to the Otago cricket page, allowing Glamorgan
supporters to keep up-to-date with Matthew`s progress in New Zealand.
