CRICINFO AND NZCRICKET.CO.NZ CONTINUE TO PUSH BACK THE BOUNDARIES
Latest traffic figures confirm appeal of cricket on the internet
18 May 2001

CricInfo.com, the world's leading cricket web site and host to the official web site of New Zealand cricket, nzcricket.co.nz, has released traffic figures for March which confirm its position as the number one cricket site in the world and nzcricket.co.nz as the most popular sport site in New Zealand.

An audit by the independent company, ABC Electronic, found that in March 2001 CricInfo registered more than 250 million page impressions globally.

An independent monitoring company, Hitwise New Zealand, conducted a separate audit in New Zealand and found that CricInfo.com and nzcricket.co.nz recorded 23 million page impressions for the month and a record 48.3 million for the season, an increase of 40 per cent on the previous season. Hitwise also found that from December 2000 to the end of March 2001 that CricInfo was the 25th most popular of all sites visited by resident New Zealanders and the most popular of all sports sites.

CricInfo New Zealand Chief Executive Adrian Motherway commented: "The 2000-01 season has been a terrifically busy one for us but the team's efforts have been rewarded with these outstanding traffic figures. We are clearly the number one choice for cricket fans in New Zealand. We will continue to build and expand through the winter and on into next season.

"The relationship with NZC has continued to flourish. We now host all six of the Associations' web sites as well as the official site of New Zealand Cricket. Our sponsorship of the CricInfo Women's World Cup was also a great success for us and for NZC and we will continue to work closely with NZC to give cricket in this country the best online platform possible."

"New Zealand Cricket is obviously delighted with the success of our official site in the first year of our full commercial relationship with CricInfo" said NZC's Marketing Manager Peter Dwan.

"The fact that the site provides cricket fans with up-to-the minute information from New Zealand and around the world is making it the media of choice for many people," he said.
