CricInfo.com, the world's most popular cricket web site has signed all six of New Zealand's major cricket associations. The agreement follows CricInfo gaining New Zealand Cricket's Internet contract earlier this year. The deal makes New Zealand the first country among the cricket nations to have all its first-class associations and their parent body together in the CricInfo camp.

All six provincial sites - Auckland, Otago, Northern Districts, Central Districts, Wellington and Canterbury - and the NZC site will be launched at the NZC season launch in Auckland on 1st December.

CricInfo will provide live text commentary online for all internationals along with ball-by-ball scoring for Shell Trophy, Shell Cup, Shell Super Max League matches, match reports and analysis, interviews, profiles, statistics, columns, photographs and cumulative run and wicket tables and points tables for the various competitions.

More than 350 days of cricket are to be played over a period of 150 days during the summer and CricInfo anticipates it will have live coverage of over 270 of these.

CricInfo is also sponsoring the Women's World Cup, taking place in Christchurch in November and December. Unprecedented levels of online coverage is planned for the tournament, which features teams from New Zealand, Australia, England, India, Ireland South Africa, Sri Lanka and The Netherlands.

Adrian Motherway, CricInfo New Zealand's Chief Executive said: "One of our first goals after signing New Zealand Cricket (NZC) was to make nzcricket.co.nz the ultimate hub for cricket information in this country and to achieve that we had to sign all six associations. Through the five-year relationship we have signed we aim to provide a service from club cricket up."

"It is the start of a new era in New Zealand. We will provide an unprecedented level of cricket coverage for New Zealanders and overseas for expatriates who want to keep up with the play. The site will have a fulltime team of cricket and technology experts dedicated to providing the most comprehensive and immediate coverage ever provided in New Zealand. Cricket is blazing a trail for other sports in New Zealand to follow."

ABOUT THE CRICINFO WOMEN'S WORLD CUP

CricInfo is the title sponsor: the tournament is to be referred to as the "CricInfo Women's World Cup 2000". The tournament, the seventh of its kind, runs from 28th November to 23rd December 2000 in and around Christchurch, New Zealand. Hosts New Zealand line up against seven other nations: holders Australia, England, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Ireland and The Netherlands.

The CricInfo Women's World Cup will be the single biggest international event hosted by New Zealand Cricket since the 1992 men's world cup. There will be a total of 31 games including 28 round robin games, two semi-finals and a final.

CricInfo's web site, wwc2000.cricinfo.com, will provide exclusive ground-breaking interactive coverage of the tournament, using the complete range of multimedia elements including video and audio, as well as ball-by-ball text commentary from every game.

The first Women's World Cup was held in England in 1973, and was to be the forerunner of the first men's World Cup in 1975. Australia (four times) and England (twice) have won the previous six Women's World Cup tournaments.

All matches in the CricInfo Women's World Cup 2000 will be played at three venues in Christchurch - BIL Oval, Lincoln Green at Lincoln University, and the Hagley Park Oval. The opening game of the CricInfo Women's World Cup will be a top-of-the-table clash between the defending champions, Australia, and hosts New Zealand on November 29th.
