I-LEVEL TEAMS BT UP WITH CRICINFO.COM TO RAISE AWARENESS OF BT TOGETHER AMONG BRITISH ASIANS
13 Dec 2001

BT has launched an innovative online marketing campaign targeting Britain's Asian communities using CricInfo.com, the world's largest cricket site. The campaign, put together by award-winning interactive agency i-level, uses surveys, competitions and forums to engage cricket fans within the UK's Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan communities for the next four months.

The first phase of this campaign is the opportunity for Indian fans to vote for their All Time Indian XI. UK-based users of Indian origin are invited to or take part in a vote for the best Indian XI of all time. Users whose choices meet those of the CricInfo experts will go into a prize draw to watch their heroes in next summer's NatWest Series floodlit matches at Bristol or Durham.

The survey can be seen at http://btindian11.cricinfo.com

CricInfo's Director of Sales, Alex Chamberlen, said "Cricket has a fanatical following amongst Asian communities, especially Indians and Pakistanis and we can offer UK advertisers a channel to reach these valuable niche audiences. CricInfo is the UK's largest and most successful cricket site and offers extensive coverage of Asian cricket. The England tour of India in December and January provides the launching pad for what we believe will be an extremely successful partnership with BT Talk Together.

"There are very few strong content areas that can deliver a compelling environment for users of Asian origin and we are confident that we can deliver substantial reach amongst those UK users that follow India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka."

India continue their Test series against England this week, and will play in five One Day Internationals against the same opposition after Christmas. Other major events during the period of the campaign include Pakistan's imminent tour of Bangladesh and West Indies' tour of Pakistan in early 2002.

Matt Gilbert, group head at i-level, said "CricInfo is the perfect forum to present the benefits of this product to our target audience. In particular the 'Talk boards' on the India v England Test channel allow us to communicate a relevant message in an engaging environment. Crucially, the project delivers on the BT Brand position of More Connections, More Possibilities."
