CricInfo.com, the world's most popular cricket web site and host of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) official web site, unveiled plans today to provide comprehensive live coverage on the internet of the Premier League One-Day Tournament, beginning this Saturday.

The site, which forms part of the CricInfo global network hosted at www.cricinfo.com, will provide Sri Lankan cricket supporters with live ball-by-ball scorecards of half of the matches and match reports, audio interviews and photographs of all the games.

Cricket fans will also be able to follow the fortunes of the women's national side as they compete in the CricInfo Women's World Cup next month. The coverage planned for the tournament includes live video and audio of every game as well as a range of other online interactive features. Sri Lanka's first match takes place on 1st December against the reigning champions Australia.

The build-up to the tournament has already begun on the web site wwc2000.cricinfo.com, with features and interviews with key players from around the world.

Charlie Austin, Chief Executive of CricInfo Lanka office, said: "CricInfo has built strong foundations with live coverage of Sri Lanka's international matches and is also committed to providing a comprehensive coverage of domestic cricket in Sri Lanka. Initially we will cover 50 per cent of the games live. However, our long-term objective is to cover all Premier League matches live, which should be achievable within 3 months."

Chandrishan Perera, the Media Manager of the BCCSL, said: "CricInfo's innovative coverage will help raise the profile of domestic cricket. The BCCSL recognises that a successful national side requires a healthy domestic structure."
