Ground Profile

A big ground measuring 21 acres, 2 roofs and 2 posts, in the heart of the city of Kanpur was, perhaps in the very early days of pre and post-mutiny (1857) used as a parade ground. After normalisation, many Britishers who were in the industry formed a Sports Club and used this ground for cricket, football, hockey and other games. The first unofficial Test between the first Commonwealth Team and India was played on this ground in 1949-50. The capacity of this Stadium is over 35,000. It is under the process of expansion. A new Sir Padampet Singhania Pavilion, has been constructed which will provide more amenities to the players.
