the last pair add a handy 17 runs in 16 balls, to prop up England's
modest total to a slightly more respectable one, though they will
have to bowl well to defend it against this New Zealand batting
        line-up
the batting effort was inconsistent through out, after a very
promising and quick start by Collyer and Leng, things fell away
dramatically in the middle order, and in the end Collyer's 39 was
far and away the highest score, with a handy knock of 26 by
Holden down the order the next best effort, followed by extras with
22 - 14 of which were wides, another concerning performance in
that department by the home side
responsible for 10 of these was debutant Burke, though who bowled
pretty well otherwise, and picked up her first wicket, that of the
        hard-hitting Shaw
the two spinners were again quite impressive, though both suffered
lapses which saw a number of full tosses delivered towards the end
of their spells, costing them even better figures in the end
Steele grabs her best figures in just her fourth match, and 3-31
could've been 3-20 something had it not been for an 11-run final
        over
the best of the bowlers was Green, bowling a fine opening spell of
6 overs costing just 5 runs, and in the end her 10 overs cost only
        19
New Zealand will be chasing 174 to win at a required run rate of
3.48 per over, when they come back out to bat in around 40 minutes
time at 2:15pm local time (0115 GMT), please join us then

Drumm trudges off the field with a fine 93 to her name, equal top
score of the tournament with team-mate Nicola Payne
       Haidee Tiffen the new batsman
44.2 Holden to Tiffen, no run, flighted up on off stump, props forward,
defends down in close on the leg side
44.3 Holden to Tiffen, one run, flighted up on the legs, sweeps strongly
through backward square leg, goes to the boundary but they
complete the single first, and that's the winning run, New Zealand
comfortable victors by 7 wickets with 33 balls to spare
England will be again disappointed with their efforts today, still
winless in the tournament, though they at least have their first
point to their name - avoiding a rapid loss by delaying it into
        well after the 40 overs
they put together a not entirely satisfying total, but still
could've defended it with a game effort in the field, and though
they started off that way, they never quite exerted enough
pressure, and eventually the Drumm/Lewis stand wore them down
the rather simple drop of Lewis by Spragg when she was on 9, in the
29th over, could've been a real turning point in the game, as that
was the period when the partnership was just starting to build
        beyond steadying mode
from then on it turned into a cruise, and Drumm started playing
some magnificent shots, particularly the late cuts, unfortunately
just getting out with only one run required
the English bowling was determined but lacked a bit of bite when it
mattered, most posting solid, but unflattering figures, which
reflected the general effort in the field, just not quite good
        enough
it now means England have lost 17 matches on the trot to New
Zealand since they last beat them, which was way back in the 1993
World Cup final at Lord's, and against their two biggest foes, NZ
and Australia, they have lost 33 on the trot, a scary
statistic for the one-time superpower in the women's game, who
continue to go through a lengthy rebuilding process
that concludes our coverage from Bert Sutcliffe Oval on another
wonderful day, the ground bathed in perfect summer sunshine with
only a slight breeze and absolutely no clouds all day long
please join us again tomorrow for the Australia v India clash here,
starting at 10:30am local time (2130 GMT), but until then it's
        goodbye from CricInfo at Lincoln!
