England all out for 191, losing their last 7 wickets for just 39
runs, in the space of 66 balls, triggered by the fall of the
stand-out batsman of the day, Leng, who perhaps timed her increase
in aggression just a touch too early at the end, though to be
fair, with still 6 further wickets in hand and just under 13 overs
left to bat, England should've carried on with the job, but
stuttered their way to their final total, and that's only thanks
in main to the 25-run stand between Harper and Taylor for the
9th wicket in just 22 balls
Leng's 80 comprised two distinct sub-innings, the first where she
got herself to 33 off 66 balls, playing very solidly, and striking
it cleanly, but often straight to fielders, but then stepped the
foot on the gas and took off, her last 47 runs taking
just 43 further deliveries, with some spanking blows, particularly
through the midwicket region, maybe a bit of a breakthrough
innings in ODIs for her, even though this is her 56th game and
50th innings already, before posting this maiden half century
next best contribution was extras with 28, 18 of which were wides,
followed by Edwards' useful, but never overly commanding 21
for the Indians, they can be very heartened by fighting their way
back into this contest, when it looked as though they may be
chasing 230 or more if Leng kept things rollicking along for much
        further
Goswami bowled very well, tightly in her first lengthy spell, while
Al Khadeer and David led the Indian turnaround with a great spell
of twin spin, sharing five wickets between them, including 4
        bowled and 1 stumping
India will come back in just over half an hour's time to chase 192
at a required run rate of 3.84 per over, and will finish up in 3rd
place in the World Series if they successfully achieve it

India are dismissed for 101 and England run out victors by 90 runs,
convincingly sealing third place in the World Series of Women's
        Cricket
a disappointing end for India, having looked the better of the two
sides through the tournament up until yesterday, and even then
they had the chase in hand on that match, only to choke under
pressure at the death, and they couldn't produce a similar
sort of chase for a slightly lesser target, falling miles short,
the key wicket being that of top-scorer on both days, Mithali Raj,
for 26 when clean bowled by Harper
Naik provided a little lower order resistance, but it was always
going to be in a losing effort at that stage
the entire English bowling effort was very impressive, exerting
pressure right from the start, and eventually the cracks began to
show, which the spinners in particular exploited
it was left to Collyer to finish them off with a miserly
performance, taking the great figures of 3-9 off 9.5 overs, though
at one stage had conceded just 2 runs off her first 8 overs, and
of those 9 runs 4 of them were attributable to wides!
that ends the tournament for England and India, there's just one
match left in the 14-game World Series, and that's the final
between Australia and New Zealand tomorrow, starting at 10:30am
local time (2130 GMT) - Australia looking to win 7 out of 7 here
and extend their winning streak over New Zealand to 5 matches (and
8 of their last 9 since their crippling loss in the World Cup
final in 2000), plus wrap up the Rose Bowl in a 3-0 clean sweep
can New Zealand produce a fighting performance for their home fans
on what is forecasted to be a rather hot February Saturday? please
join us tomorrow to find out, but until then it's goodbye from
