welcome to Bert Sutcliffe Oval at Lincoln for the 11th match of the
World Series of Women's Cricket between New Zealand and Australia
New Zealand have won the toss and chosen to bat first on a
        gloriously fine Waitangi Day
it'll be Cathryn Fitzpatrick to open the bowling from the City End,
to Rebecca Rolls with Michelle Lynch at the non-striker's end
0.1 Fitzpatrick to Rolls, wide: no run, quick and wide, angling down
the leg side, through to the keeper, New Zealand underway straight
        away
0.1 Fitzpatrick to Rolls, legbye: one run, shortish ball angling to leg
stump, glanced off the thigh pad down to fine leg
0.2 Fitzpatrick to Lynch, no run, good length, straightish ball, props
well forward, taken on the front pad, rebounds back on the off
        side of the pitch
0.3 Fitzpatrick to Lynch, no run, fullish ball outside off stump,
pushes well forward, defending into the covers
0.4 Fitzpatrick to Lynch, no run, good quick, good length ball on off
stump, hops on the crease to defend down in close on the off side,
a little uncertain about that one
0.5 Fitzpatrick to Lynch, no run, shortish ball just outside off stump,
pokes it down into the gully where Hayes fields
0.6 Fitzpatrick to Lynch, no run, similar again, short lifting ball on

        fractionally home
1.5 Twining to Lynch, FOUR, shot! shortish ball angling away outside
off stump, Lynch plays a lovely back cut down through backward
point, just beats the diving infielder there, and with no third

41.1 Fitzpatrick to Lewis, one run, full and straight, firmly driven off

42.2 Blackwell to Mason, wide: no run, short and wide, heading well down

42.2 Blackwell to Mason, no run, full and fairly wide outside off stump,
Mason watches it through to the keeper
42.3 Blackwell to Mason, two runs, comes down the track to a fullish

from straighter at long on to field
42.4 Blackwell to Mason, no run, full and angling wider outside off
stump, tries to reach it but misses, through to the keeper
42.5 Blackwell to Mason, FOUR, oh dear! another slightly comedic moment
in the match, Mason gets well underneath a fullish ball, lofting
strongly down to wide long off, not perfectly struck but just
falls short of Sthalekar coming in and around from it, but the
        outfield is so bouncy
that it jumps up and bounces over her head and to the boundary!

46.2 Twining to Mason, one run, very full on off stump, jams it into the
turf, bounces away to Sthalekar at backward point, running well
        with the shot
46.3 Twining to McGlashan, no run, very full and straight, forced
straight up to mid on, Clark swoops quickly, firing just wide at
the bowler's end as Mason has to return to her crease
46.4 Twining to McGlashan, FOUR, shot! Australia oddly keep all the
fielders inside the circle for the relatively new batsman, but
McGlashan is no slug, fullish ball and she powerfully lofts it
        over mid off, crashing shot
46.5 Twining to McGlashan, three runs, Australia persist with a strong
infield and again McGlashan exploits it, shortish ball straying to
leg, well glanced fine of backward square leg, only just pulls it
        up inside the boundary
46.6 Twining to Mason, OUT: good length ball on off stump, has a big

the last five wickets capitulating in the space of just nine runs
and 14 deliveries as the Australian pace bowlers Fitzpatrick and
Twining bowled impeccable lengths, and the tail couldn't cope
a disappoint effort from the home side, but it is still possibly a
defendable total, but they must've been aiming for something over
200 and came up short, partly thanks to their terrible start, then
sluggish rebuilding phase, and then falling away so
badly at the end after a promising period where the run rate
improved dramatically with some real urgency between the wickets
        and aggressive strokeplay
Lewis, Lynch and Tiffen all scored moderately, each with slow
overall strike rates, but looked likely at times but just couldn't
        go on with the job
Mason was most impressive in coming in and giving it a heave right
from ball one, but her departure was the key to New Zealand's
        demise
Fitzpatrick becomes the first women's bowler to take three 5-wicket
bags in ODIs, while Twining bowled very well, a consistent full
length, to bag her best career figures so far
Hayes and Rolton kept the New Zealand batsmen plugged down during
the middle overs, each ending up with very economical figures,
while things fell away a little by those sharing the fifth bowler
duties, it wasn't enough to significantly impact things
Australia will chase 175 to win at a required run rate of 3.50 per
over in just over 50 minutes time at 2:15pm local time (0115 GMT),

a fine victory, the best team in world cricket at present again

all the bowlers toiled, nobody really looking likely except Steele,
who came on when the result was effectively decided, but she stuck
to her task and flighted the ball beautifully, showing great
control, and no matter how hard the Australians tried to
force the issue, they couldn't get her away for any serious amount
of runs, and three of the four wickets fell while she was bowling
Australia also retain the Rose Bowl as a result of this victory,
taking the series 2-0 with still the final match to play, which
doubles as the World Series final too - at least New Zealand get a
second bite at the cherry of winning that
but to do so, they'll need to be at the absolute peak of their
game, which is a tough ask for a relatively inexperienced outfit
        against the hungry Australians
that concludes our coverage here from the lovely Bert Sutcliffe
Oval, please join us again tomorrow at 10:30am local time (2130
GMT) for the third place playoff match between England and India,
then again at the same time on Saturday for the final
until then, it's goodbye from CricInfo at sunny Lincoln on New
        Zealand's national day, Waitangi Day
